Customer challenge
Gurubai Poultry, a large poultry farm located in Tamil Nadu, wanted to reduce its bird mortality rate and increase overall egg production. Gurubai Poultry is a 10,000-bird operation that is a contract farm for Suguna Foods, one of India’s leading poultry conglomerates.
The farm was struggling to ensure timely monitoring of critical parameters essential for maintaining bird health and improving egg output as the process was very labor intensive. For tracking crucial parameters like temperature, humidity, ammonia concentration levels, and light intensity, periodic monitoring was required. Bird weight was another important parameter that needed to be measured.
As all the data collection was manual, timely operational interventions were difficult, and there was a lag between manual data collection and management review. Ensuring SOP compliance for management was also challenging. This resulted in lower egg output per bird and higher bird mortality rates.
Denvik's approach
Requirements Gathering: Denvik’s team analysed all farm processes. A smart technology solution that could monitor all critical parameters and ensure timely interventions was the only way to improve egg output, reduce bird mortality rates and increase monthly revenue.
As long as monitoring processes remain manual, enforcing SOP compliance and improving productivity would be a challenge.For example, accurately capturing bird weight was a crucial step but highly labour intensive. Correctly capturing bird weight is essential to determine the feed plan, early detection of diseases, and improving overall bird health.
